Morrison condemns 'terribly distressing' riots in Washington DC

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has labelled the riots and protests in Washington DC as “terribly distressing” and concerning.

Mr Morrison also announced changes to Australia’s travel advice.

“Due to violent protests in Washington DC, curfews are in place in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia from 6pm on Wednesday 6 January to 6am on Thursday 7 January,” he said.

“You should avoid areas where the protests are ongoing due to the potential for violence.”

He also hoped for a peaceful and stable transition of government to the Biden administration.
