Armed protesters in Michigan storm governor's statehouse demanding end to coronavirus lockdown

Hundreds of protesters, some armed, gathered at Michigan's state Capitol in Lansing objecting to Governor Gretchen Whitmer's request to extend emergency powers to combat COVID-19.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer had to be protected by state police after a group of armed protesters and militia tried to storm the floor of the state house.

The confrontation came ahead of a scheduled vote on whether or not to extend the state's stay-at-home order through May 15.
